Good things spring forth
Girma, our partner in central Ethiopia, reports that many people have left the Oromia region due to political conflicts. Now that the situation has calmed down, some are already returning. Our partners are sharing the Good News at events and visiting people from door to door. Already 45 people have decided to follow Jesus Christ and 30 have been baptised.
Another partner, Mikael, describes the economic problems that people are struggling with. Purchasing power has fallen drastically and the cost of living is barely affordable for many. Nevertheless, there are positive developments, as new churches have been founded. For example, the experience of a man whose family was destroyed by addiction was moving. After several encounters with our partners, he accepted Jesus as his Saviour. His life changed and nine other people from his personal environment came to faith.
In a region in the north-east of the country, on the border with Eritrea and Djibouti, the Christian message meets with resistance. Many locals fear that their faith and traditions will be suppressed and distance themselves from our church planters. Nevertheless, people find faith in the living God and are baptised, as our evangelist Mulu tells us.
