When Suffering Is Grace

ETHIOPIA
In one region of Ethiopia, the work of our evangelists was hampered for a time. The reason was a young man named Biniam*, whom our co-workers had known for years. Why was that?

Our evangelists had often told Biniam* about Jesus. But since the young man was a follower of the Orthodox Church, he did not listen properly at first. Instead, he distanced himself from the message, turned to alcohol and drugs, and eventually led other young people in his circle down the same path. Together, they increasingly hindered the proclamation of the gospel, and the spiritual atmosphere in the region changed for the worse.

But God had other plans. One day, Biniam became ill. He could no longer sleep, either at night or during the day, and his life fell apart. The ACP workers saw God's hand in this and seized the opportunity to visit him. As he lay on the floor in despair, he realized that only Jesus could save his life. At that moment, he was freed from his addictions, and his strength returned, as did peace to his home.

At the same time, the spiritual atmosphere in the region improved. Today, he is a testimony and an encouragement to the church. Thanks to the dedicated work of our evangelists, who did not give up on Biniam, this situation was turned around for the better with God's help. We are grateful for the many faithful servants who proclaim the gospel in the scorching heat and make people disciples of Jesus.
