Love is ...

RUSSIA
Armed with good ideas and backed by much prayer, Bible students from Krasnoyarsk are striking up conversations about God in Minusinsk—even in places where you'd least expect it.

As part of their internship, students from the Krasnoyarsk Bible School are currently supporting a church-planting project in Minusinsk. Even in the first few weeks, it's become clear that: The local people are surprisingly open to the Gospel. This is no coincidence, because long before the Bible students arrived, there had been intense prayer for the city.

Using creative ideas, the teams quickly strike up conversations: In public places, passersby are invited to write down prayer requests or complete the sentence “Love is….” This often leads to deep conversations about faith and relationships.

One of the most extraordinary encounters, however, happened completely by chance: The team leader wanted to buy a used refrigerator and drove with two Bible students to the seller's place. The appliance didn't fit, though, so the sale fell through. But before the three left, he said, “I'm not buying the refrigerator. But I'd like to talk to you about God.” The seller was surprised at first, but listened attentively.

The Bible students don't yet know what impact the conversation will have. But they're convinced of one thing: Every encounter with a person is valuable—much more valuable than a new refrigerator.
