Faithful Women of Prayer
What looks like a women's meeting is actually a normal church service in a small village community outside Durrës, Albania. The only exception are a few men among the leaders who have come from the city to the countryside to attend these meetings.
Today's sermon encourages listeners to trust in God's life-changing power. No matter what the circumstances, God can bring about change. These women, and especially their absent husbands, need God's intervention in their lives. Lives marked by social problems. Many of them are addicted to alcohol, and violence is not uncommon. The women faithfully attend the church service and pray for their families. At the last women's conference, they enthusiastically shared encouraging experiences. Their children meet every Saturday for the children's programme. Seeds of faith can also be sown in their lives.
At the entrance to the small church building is written: ‘May Jesus Christ bless you and your family.’ We would like to pray for this. The situation of the women in this congregation is representative of many small churches in the villages. May these faithful women and their families experience God's transforming presence and His blessing.
