Talysh find Jesus
AZERBAIJAN
Azerbaijan has come to the attention of the global public as a result of the World Climate Conference. We pray that the people of Azerbaijan will be just as passionate about the spiritual climate.
The work among Talysh has already given us much joy. We have seen women and men from Muslim backgrounds turn to Jesus Christ. The evangelisation work started in the church in Baku, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last weekend. We thank God for giving us the opportunity to plant this church.
However, the Christians also have to contend with resistance. As in many other countries, it is not easy for converts to stand by their faith within their own families. The resulting disadvantages and harassment are difficult to bear.
Women in particular are under great pressure. They are the ones who actively evangelise. As leadership tends to be given to men in the local culture, they also have to fight against prejudice.

bring even more Talysh to Jesus,
many Christians are prepared to take responsibility,
the community in Baku is growing and thriving.
