Freedom from Addiction
As Tania* speaks, tears stream down her cheeks. This woman, who usually seems so strong, struggles to find the words, so deeply do the memories move her. Even as a child, she witnessed her parents' alcohol abuse.
She began drinking herself at an early age and later turned to increasingly harder drugs. For decades, addiction ruled her life.
But then came the turning point. Tania was accepted into the ACP rehabilitation center for women in Havana. There, she experienced loving affection for the first time. A hug, kindness, and acceptance were something completely new to her. Today, the liberated woman says with shining eyes: “I have come to know Jesus Christ.”
This testimony is one of many. During the visit to Havana, our staff heard numerous similar stories. The local project leader speaks of a special time. Almost every day, people are making decisions for Jesus, and the hunger for love, acceptance, and the good news is great.
