Hope and healing

ACP has been working in South Sudan for almost a decade to train spiritual leaders and evangelists. This is because the Good News is still unknown in many regions.

To change this, we work closely with local partners and run training centres in the cities of Maban and Juba. We also provide evangelists with means of transport and support communities in the construction of meeting places. Another important project is the translation of the Bible into the Fur language. The New Testament has already been printed and is now being distributed.

Our Good Hope Centre orphanage offers traumatised children accommodation, care and more. Most of the children come here in a poor physical and even worse mental state. Our staff help them to come to terms with their past and find healing. Jesus plays a decisive role in the healing process.

But there is also sad news. A fire on the border with Uganda has brought great suffering to the people of Lobone. 42 houses belonging to members of the community and a maize field belonging to our partner were destroyed. Those affected are now defencelessly exposed to heat, cold and wild animals. There is also concern that there will be tensions between the countries, as the fire probably started in Uganda. ACP will start initial aid with its partner.
