Life has always been centered around the Nile, where the majority of the Egyptian population is located. Otherwise, the country is characterized by desert and drought. As the state religion with constitutional status, Islam shapes the culture and public life.

With 10% of the population, Christians are one of the strongest minorities in the Middle East. They see themselves as direct followers of the first disciples and look back with pride on their ancestors Moses and Jesus, who lived in the country.

Despite the long Christian tradition in the country, Christians remain a marginalized and often threatened minority, but this does not prevent them from playing a key role for the entire Arab world.
